Romans lend me your ears,again
Romans lend me your ears,again
ok so first shake down run. love how it handles and steers and stops..
now its runing rich. stinking rich. standard mains and pilots right back to one turn out.. on the throttle it picks up really fast and runs great but hunts a lot andis jerky on a steady throttle. but the main rub.
gets to 5.5k and splutters and wont rev past it .
way to rich to even run? or timing out 180? and how easy is it to check timing...everything lined up perfect after the mcct fitted.

Drop the bike to me and I'll look after it for ya
Easy job to check the 180. Don't be afraid of it.

Except it wont help with 180 degree out if that is the case. It's easy to rule out the 180 out but the only issue with it is that it requires rear cam removal which could possibly upset you valve clearances depending on how exact you put the cam's back ie how much you tighten them back on which has a small affect on clearance, so do check these.Follow this guide and u can't go wrong
Follow Tony's guide in the following thread for 180 out.

I'd be tempted to check the carbs first. Choke sticking, are the emulation tubes the right way around. What needles are you running and what other settings ie jet sizes and where is your mixture at. What air filter have got. Temporally remove the air filter and see if that has an affect which would suggest fuelling rather than timing if it gets you past the 5.5k. Note 5.5k is where the 180 out kicks in when ridden and also note it will go past this blipping the throttle at a standstill so has to be ridden to test. It's also possible to jet carbs to mask over a 180 issue and get past the 5.5k point as was the case with one of AP's bikes and he rode around like that for a few years without even realising. It was only after many attempts of me trying to get his tuning (jetting) right and many carb removals with no luck that we finally resorted to checking the timing and discovered a different animal after flipping the cams.

Run both bikes next to each other .
If it's 180' out you'll hear it as it'll sound different (very deep) .
