Running like crap in the rain
Lads, bit of help cos my head is fried! Bike generally goes well. But a bit of rain comes down, even a little bit and in lower gears (1-3) it splutters and chokes and acceleration goes to shite. It's like the front cylinder misfires or something. Only happens when it rains! Have the stick coil mod done and front seems sealed against the elements. Any ideas?

Check the drain hole is clear.
It's below the exhaust

I always had the same problem after I did the stick coil mod.
I had to make a rubber spray flap.
I also had one coil that had cracked, so pull it out, and slide the plastic tube sleeve off the coil, if you can see rust it's a giveaway.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Drain bolt is clear.
There's a tiny bit of rust under the ring but nothing that won't clean off. Would this only affect it in the rain?
Was that on the front or rear? And how did you go about doing that?tony.mon wrote:I always had the same problem after I did the stick coil mod.

The rust is a sign that the plastic insulating casing is cracked.
If so dampness will provoke tracking down the outside.
I made a sleeve out of a pushbike inner tube and cable tied it to the lead and low on the coil.
A squirt of dampstart inside helped before sealing it up.

Cheers Tony,
I might try the inner tube idea. Reckon that could help once I get a new coil.
Thanks!

Re: Running like crap in the rain
So I took the front coil out, used an inner tube to cover it all and re-installed. Started for a bit then died off, last of the rain water i thought. Tried to start her up again in a bit and nothing, presumed i'd flooded it from attempting to start. Left it overnight, when i went to start this morning it's still not starting. Engine is turning over, starter motor is working but it just wont catch!
What's wrong now? Any help guys?

Knocked the engine kill?
Take out a plug and look for sparks.

Don't take it out in the rain, problem solved!
