Import bike
Hi all, I am new here on this forum. I have recently brought a lovely vtr1000 firestorm which was imported into the country from new. Anyway my question is what if any are the deferences between my bike which I believe was made for the Canadian market to a uk model. My bike is in mph and its got every mot from new would there be any engine differences ie carbs or bhp difference for example.
Any information would be appreciated.

Rare for an import from Canada, what makes you think it's from there ?

Re: Import bike
I am sure it says Canadian or canada on one of the labels next to vin label on the frame. I will double check now when I get home.
Re: Import bike
If it has a sticker can't odds that. would have had the original clock changed from KMS to MPH but that could have been done from new..
Don't know about Canadian model differences, it might have the emissions stuff on it, same as our F2 version but different in that I don't think they got the bigger tank our F2 had.
Pretty sure they were all mostly the same worldwide, called a Superhawk in the US, Firestorm elsewhere.

Yes I think clocks were changed when it was new as I have all old mot's from new. Definitely got the smaller tank. I have only had it about a week now so when I get chance I will have a more detailed look at the bike. It certainly goes ok though.
Re: Import bike
Greetings - Have you got pics of the maple bike and sticker?

Re: Import bike
There were a few for sale in Edinburgh last year that were Canadian imports.
Oh, hi and welcome by the way.
Shinny bike there.

Re: Import bike
Looks very good and mainly original apart from undertray with different indicators, and bar ends. Presume pretty low milage from lack of wear on the fork lowers but careful and keep an eye on the pitted chrome oil lines.
Handy extras with the braided brake hoses, screen and Scorpion Cans.
Did it coome without the seat cowl? and hope you plan to preempt the auto imploding CCTs with manual tensioners. Also check the R/R to see if it's the orginal self-cooking unfinned one and plan on upgrading.

You have a keen eye. Going to source some more original indicators and the seat cowl. Low mileage at 22400. I will replace oil pipes aswell. Cct's are manuals already so don't need to worry about those. What do you mean in the last bit of your message about R R thing.

Regulator / Rectifier under the seat on the subframe

Of course I feel a bit daft now I should have realised. Yes I will have a look when I get chance. I have had one of those fail before on another bike. Cheers.
