Vfr 800 swingarm

I wondered if anyone experienced \done it.i fancied doing it but I haven't read much feedback on handling effects etc

I like the look of a SSSwingarm, but like you wonder how it would change the handling. IIRC a VFR800 swing arm is something like 40mm to 45mm longer than our Firestorm OEM swingarms.

Some have done this conversion on here over the years. One of my favourites has to be Scubadogs bike:- viewtopic.php?t=14553

The main things that need to be considered are:-

(1) The rear header needs to be modified to make room for the new position of the rear shock absorber.

(2) The rear shock for the VFR800 swingarm needs repositioning to the left of the bike, so a new hole needs to be drilled in the box section of the frame to accept the top shock mount.

(3) New rear shock linkage plates need to be fabricated.

Yeah,I've read it's heavier too but don't know by how much..the fabrication doesn't worry me it's the fact I could do all that work and the bike ends up turning like a oil tanker.

It looks good tho. Got to re work the silencer position too to get the best look aswell

And I have one in my workshop, complete with caliper and disc, I'll not be using it as I have too much to do

How heavy would you say the vfr one is compared to the vtr one?

I agree it would be good to know the difference in the weight of the VTR and VFR800 swing arms,

You'll need the weight of the whole assembly including the wheel.
The single sided wheel will weigh more that a std one.
As will the spindle etc.

It's probably not worth the hassle then,especially if it's going to increase the weight by a good few kilos
