I have a small 4 stroke honda clone driving a pressure washer. It's been stood some time.
So gas tank and filter cleaned, new fuel pipe, carb cleaned, oil changed and level checked, with new fresh petrol it runs but to a point. It won't take full throttle, it instantly dies.
My feelings are it must be main jet, any opinions of suggestions other than a box of matches
Small Engine
Re: Small Engine
Does the choke make it better it worse?
It sounds like it's running rich.
If so, leaving the choke on will make it worse
You can pull the plug after it's been idling a while and reached normal temperature.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: Small Engine
My tecumseh engined mower regularly blocks jets, either the idle (pilot) or main. They look clean but the tiniest bit of dirt and it does as yours. No idle = pilot, no rev = main jet or passage. When they're rich they usually 8 stroke. Alternatively it could be the carb diaphragm if it has one of those dinky little things you find on strimmer and chainsaws.
Re: Small Engine
Starts with choke. Shut chokr
Apply throttle to about 95% runs but unhappy the instant 100% throttle it stops
Have just turned the water off to the pump and it takes full throttle but is unhappy.
Suspect the pump may have issues. Been stood ages.
My lad bought it for his crosser then moved out and left this behind. Been stood ages serve me right for telling SWMBO I would wash the patio

Commando no diaphragm to pump,
Re: Small Engine
Btw I once had a go on a Dunstall 810 conversion it was like a bucking bronco
Re: Small Engine
Young Tony is on the money again. Got it to run and ran for s while. Pulled plug and running very rich.
Also pulled the pump as some internal seals have gone water pissing out but not from the right holes.
Better than gardening, reckon I can spin this out

Re: Small Engine
Sorry that was no help really
. Dunstall 810 eh.... They were hot rods and good for a couple of thousand miles before the thin wall sleeves changed shape and the head gasket failed.. Legendary though..
. Good luck with the engine.. We need to know what it was.!
