Anyone gone from a VTR to a SV1000?
Anyone gone from a VTR to a SV1000?
I am thinking of changing the VTR. I've had three Storms (each from new) for the last seven years. Honda don't seem to be planning a major update (unless anyone knows any different).
Has anyone bought or tried a SV1000? If so I would be interested in a comparison, e.g.
1/ Are they as comfortable as a VTR
2/ Performance/Handling
3/ Reliability
4/ Quality/Finish
Thanks,
Ian.

Get a test ride. I rode one a few months back when i was considering an sv1000 and this was way before the storm idea come up.
Its goes, stops and handles well. Its a bit quicker than the storm but less midrange but other than that its a 1000cc vtwin really its much of a muchness and down to personal choice rather than anything else.
I have oved a 996 and an RSVR before the storm and yeah they both easily out handle the storm but as for practability and rideability i prefer the storm. Its certainly takes more rider input and concentration on the storm to get most out if it where the others just go where you point it and for me thats uninspiring and boring.

may mate bought an sv 1000 a couple of months ago and hates it i've rode it and find it ok prefer the storm myself and so does he. He's messed with the suspension set up quite a bit and still cant get it right says it tries to spit him off on every bump all in they're cheap as hell to buy he payed 4k brand new
but its each to his own try one yourself

The voices made me do it
I know the 650's are good for what they are but the thou's are quite rare. Not a lot for sale anymore new or second hand. I have heard they are a flop and won't be made much more. honda waited to see how they faired. But because they flopped Honda won't update the storm. Big V twins won't be made anymore in 5 years not even Ducati's.

Better to burn out than just fade away!
There are plenty of SV1000's here, sitting in the shops not getting sold.EGG wrote:I know the 650's are good for what they are but the thou's are quite rare.
