As far as I can work out the MOT rules say that indicators need to be fitted, as well as headlight, number plate light and brake light, if the bike has front and rear position lights.
I'm having problems with rear indicator location as the tail tidy is slap bang in the middle of the exhausts and indicators will be hidden by the exhaust. I'm thinking of masking off the headlight and side light and going for the old 'day light' MOT. Stop tail light is easy to remove.
Am I right that taping over the front lights will be OK?

I'm no expert, but I thought that you had to remove or blank off the switch as well.
The rear indicators could possibly be fitted to a bar at the lower edge of the numberplate, but they have to be a set distance apart if fitted.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: MOT advice on lighting
The indis could go under the plate but time is pressing and I want the bike on the road. Hence the no lights option. Distance at the rear should be 180mm, front 240mm.
Fabio's told me I'm good as I thought. Possibly removing the indi toggle switch for picky testers. Seems to me that would be the same for all the switches though. I'll tape the lights up and tuck all the cables out of the way. Testers won't go hunting for them as far as I can make out from the MOT notes.

Re: MOT advice on lighting
i use a cover on the front and duct rape over the rear every year.. its either all lights or no lights, the testers know i have lights under the cover up but arnt allowed to start removing parts to check, they never give me any hassle over the lights and we have government test stations over here not bike shops...
