98 vtr no electrics

Post by Bobby98vtr »

Had a low speed slide and dropped the bike on the right side it split the side casing and emptied the oil on the road, now I have no electrics working except the starter, I've replaced the rectifier and the ignition control units but still nothing any ideas/help would be appreciated

Check the main 30amp green fuse in the starter relay. If blown there should be a spare under the unit.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Sorry to hear about the drop

Firstly, what do you mean by "no electrics"? Lights? Indicators? Dash/instruments? Or all of those?

Starting with the obvious, do you have around 13v at the battery?
Is the cutout on the rh handlebar damaged? Or the rh controls and wiring?

Have you checked all of the fuses? Including the one Mac suggested.

Pic of the damage might help.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

All fuses are intact, no visible damage to wiring loom or control units on handle bars, battery sitting at 12.4v going to try new battery and see if that helps, starter works but no lights horn indicators etc or odometer

Starter works, but does the engine actually start or just turn over?

Engine just turns over, changed the battery last night still no joy, the damage was just a small hole in the engine casing on the clutch side and a broken indicator (and a dented pride) i inspected the wiring loom and looks like at some point someone fitted a alarm but looks like it has been removed and bodged so need to look at that I have a spare wiring loom to fit
