Swingarm cleaning / restoration

Post by lazybones51 »

Evening all!

I've currently got my swingarm off as I'm rebuilding the linkage (which isn't as bad as it first appeared), and I'd like to tidy up the swingarm. It's in pretty good condition, but has the odd spot of corrosion.
Is there anything I can do to tidy it up, without going down the road of getting it polished or powder coated?
I tried a little Autosol metal polish but it made little difference. Would I be correct in saying the swingarm has some sort of coating/lacquer applied when its manufactured?

Evening,

Yes the swingarm does have some sort of coating/lacquer applied when it’s manufactured as you suggest.

I'm not sure how you are going to touch up the corroded area's exactly, may be someone else will have a suggestion for you :?:
