Well I succumed to the same deal last October (is yours fully faired?). I kinda resented it, so yes I blame Honda, 'cos all the Storm really needed was injection, suspension tweaks and a facelift. Small change for their budgets.

The SV has more poke, though the engine isn't as sweet as the Storm, a much better gearbox, decent clocks, better lighting front and rear, a slightly more radical riding position, a less comfortable driver's seat but a better pillion, with grab handle, a totally shite side stand, better handling at the limit. Oh and about 30% better fuel consumption. Not as much soul though, or is that just me anthropomorphising the Storm's faults?

Like you say, what's a man to do. It's Mr Honda who's Satan for not spending a few pennies on a great bike.

Im going through the same dileama, see the thread a couple above this!

You COULD sell it and buy this new bike but will it make you smile like the storm? If the answers yes then theres not much in it.

I can see why your looking at the SV.

I half looked when my storm was wrecked, but a friend/bike dealer said in the trade no one wants to touch the SV when it comes to trade in time. I do also know the first SVs were down on power compared to the TLs, but the 2006 models had their power upped to make them more sell-able.
The SV had "softer" cams than the TL

Well been for a short test ride on the SV, and what did i think,,hmm well much and much of the same really, it had some good points & some bad points,Im sure honda could have done a better job if they put their mind to it but hey ho I found the SV had
better fuelling, better brakes, more vibration, one massive side stand...oh and the seat seamed not as comfortable, build quality nowhere as good as the honda,"the demo bike was on a 06 plate and was already starting to look a bit tatty"
So will i be buying one even on such a good deal?? Nope I rode back into the bike shops car park on it and thought ..as an overall package I still like my storm to much to swap..............for the moment
OH but my mate who was on a 955 bought one...crazy mad fool

I had a play on a Buel the other day.
Nice comfey, around town , sit up and beg style ride. Lovely wheelies  if your into that sort of thing.(My mate wasn't too impressed  he only had 200 miles on the clock and i kind of forgot to treat it nice  ).
Would I have one.....wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. It's rough, lumpy and vibrates enough to shake your teath out, and it's got some silly belt thingy thats bound to snap if you get lively on the throtle.
One good thing about it though. It sure makes you appreciate having a Storm :D
