New bike !

Post by trebs »

Well, almost...

Just got her back from a full service. A local place, non-franchised.
Flippin 'eck Tucker ! it's like riding a new bike! 8O

I've been to the main dealer up till now, assuming of course... Assuming they were doing a proper job. The bike came from them and always seemed the to be same after a service, everything always seemed sweet. So no complaints. Of course, they're not doing a "bad" job, Sven the spotty spannerman is a highly trained motorcycle technician. He can follow a service manual like the rest of his colleagues.

but now.. I picked up the bike from this fella, you know the type.. trophies hanging around the place, greasy nippled Miss May 1995 hanging on the workshop wall.
The fella grinned and said "I made a few little tweaks, if this came from a Honda dealer, he didn't know what to look for on a VTR.. next time we'll re-jet it and stick it on the bed for a proper job"

Tweaks. All I know is it just feels better, slightly lower idle speed, carbs balanced, but for the rest, I have no idea what he's done and he wasn't letting on. He just assured me that nothing was modified or swapped, pure old fashioned engine management.

My grin was pretty big too when he gave me the bill. A fair bit lower than the dealership and a "new" bike. Lovely.
