I stood in the sunshine & looked at it for a while then came indoors to delay getting on it - didn't want to do it out of simple excitement and wanted to relax a bit and get tuned in.
Threw my gear on eventually after about an hour of nancing about and took the machine onto the A69, headed toward Cumbria.
My first impression was that the bike just seemed very tight, very very comfortable. The gear box is just like chocolate, in the sense that its smooth and moreish - another gear? yes please sir!
After covering about 80 miles to scrub the rubber in I eventualy began to open it up on the corners.
Now for those of you who do not know, I'm not a riding god and I'm not a self confessed keeper of trophy's - I just ride and that's all there is too it. I've never ridden a Sports 600 and I dont bang on about getting my knee down - I ride in all seasons, for any occasion and also dont confess to have a grand knowledge of different styles of bikes for different styles of riding. To me - a motrcycle is a motorcycle and they are there to be ridden by people.
The bike corners smoothly. The bike stops well enough. It's balanced, it pulls and pulls and pulls. Acceleration is outstanding and requires strength of will.
The first 150 miles where done solo. The next 450 have been with my favourite (erm, and only) pillion. We have both found it comfy and tidy, capable and talented - far far more enjoyable in all manners for touring than the firestorm.
So... Perhaps I've not kept to the manufacturers RPM guidline, but I havent raped it either - tho am looking forward to being able to do so on the odd day when I let the machine stretch its wings.
600 miles in and its booked in for its first health check, so I'm back on the storm for a few days - What I'm hoping, is that when on the storm on my own I find that it's more flickable. The storm is a cracking bike and for what it is and what it does i'm more than happy with it - wouldnt swap it for an R6 anyday - grunt rules

Very very different machines. I love em both.
cheers chums
