My opinion of the K6 Hayabusa.

Post by Hanuman »

Last Friday morning I took delivery of my shiny K6 Busa.

I stood in the sunshine & looked at it for a while then came indoors to delay getting on it - didn't want to do it out of simple excitement and wanted to relax a bit and get tuned in.

Threw my gear on eventually after about an hour of nancing about and took the machine onto the A69, headed toward Cumbria.

My first impression was that the bike just seemed very tight, very very comfortable. The gear box is just like chocolate, in the sense that its smooth and moreish - another gear? yes please sir!

After covering about 80 miles to scrub the rubber in I eventualy began to open it up on the corners.

Now for those of you who do not know, I'm not a riding god and I'm not a self confessed keeper of trophy's - I just ride and that's all there is too it. I've never ridden a Sports 600 and I dont bang on about getting my knee down - I ride in all seasons, for any occasion and also dont confess to have a grand knowledge of different styles of bikes for different styles of riding. To me - a motrcycle is a motorcycle and they are there to be ridden by people.

The bike corners smoothly. The bike stops well enough. It's balanced, it pulls and pulls and pulls. Acceleration is outstanding and requires strength of will.

The first 150 miles where done solo. The next 450 have been with my favourite (erm, and only) pillion. We have both found it comfy and tidy, capable and talented - far far more enjoyable in all manners for touring than the firestorm.

So... Perhaps I've not kept to the manufacturers RPM guidline, but I havent raped it either - tho am looking forward to being able to do so on the odd day when I let the machine stretch its wings.

600 miles in and its booked in for its first health check, so I'm back on the storm for a few days - What I'm hoping, is that when on the storm on my own I find that it's more flickable. The storm is a cracking bike and for what it is and what it does i'm more than happy with it - wouldnt swap it for an R6 anyday - grunt rules :D I'm looking forward to using the firestorm as my hooligan machine and keeping the Busa for eating miles quickly two up.

Very very different machines. I love em both.

cheers chums :D

nice read  8) the storm is a bike i never thought i would tour on but due to a misshap on holiday i had to take the storm first day on the storm did 480 miles and it felt fab i was well impressed (was only doing 350 a day on the gsx14),
i think you should stick to you bussa when two up though theres nothing to hold onto plus the pillion slides forward which pins you to the tank :?

enjoy yer new bike

true - she slides forward and crushes my jewels. When I rode from plymouth to newcastle back in may I felt as though I was going to be dismantled and die every time i stopped to get off the machine to refuel. Such a buzzy grunty thing. I had thought of having the seat recovered adding a gel seat pad and adding a grab rail and givi pannier mounts, bar ends, rubber on the pegs, infact lots of things to make it more comfy - but tbh the Busa is more fitting for the purpose and has everything ready for my frame. Also the tank range is a big concern for me - however its absolutely fitting imho for a toy for myself to hit the twisites in the locality.

and... last night I went out in the clear night and spanked my Storm, what a hoot - it felt tiny, light and was nimble, sailing thru bends and eating straights like a lions roar.

luvved it.

So so so so so glad I didnt go with an earlier thought for two bikes which was along the lines of selling the storm and buying a deauville and a thou track bike. I think my storm and busa make perfect sense.
