Great Yorkshire Bike Show - Anyone going?
Hi,
The Great Yorkshire Bike Show - Click Here Dammit!
Went to the first one of these in 2005 - thought it was a little pricey at £10 for what was there. Still enjoyed it though.
Missed last year but from what I heard it was a much better event, better organised and lots more there to see and do.
Bloody Hell!! the Purple Helmets Display Team are going to be there! that's a must see then - "at speeds approaching 100MPH"
C90's like you've never seen 'em before
If funds and work committments allow I'll be heading the few short miles over there for a mooch about, think the weather will determine the day though.
Graeme

Hi,
Managed to get parked by the wall next to road, about half way down, display already going when we got there.
Mates Gixxer 750 was infront of my red Storm (the fastest colour BTW).
I did reverse in to spot though so my screen with VTR100.org sticker was visible, and did look out for other Storms. Did mean to have a wander about looking and drooling at other bikes, just never got around to it.
We were just to the pub side of the display teams' exit route.
Saw a Ferrari that had no chance of escaping before the bike around it left!
Never budged from the wall apart from to go for a pee just before we left.
Ne'er mind will catch up another time at Squires or at GYBS weekend after next.
Cheers
Graeme.

Well,
I saw it first year (2005) and thought it was a bit pricey for what was there (IMO).
Missed last year and was told it was better!
If not for the Purple Helmets, who were brilliant, I'd have still not thought it was worth £10 in this year!
Didn't seem to be a whole lot more there than first year - a few more trade stands but not massively different.
Cobb & Jagger Ducati
Eddies of Leeds - Hoggs 'n' wannabe Hoggs
Jordan Bikes - Various
KTM - you can ride their new road bike apparently
The big 4 are represented (Honda - Suzuki - Yamaha - Kawasaki)
Appleyards
Royal Enfield display of current models and a couple of old ones, along with one or two nice old trials bikes, BSA, Triumph etc.
Powerbronze
Quill Exhausts
A few scantily / Lycra clad females about - So OK for Tony (shame it's a bit far to travel for him - LOL) - Bloody Anorexic most of 'em! {Not that I took much notice cos SWMBO was with me!}
Displays:
FMX Crossers - good(breeze meant not as good a show as they are capable of).
Xtreme Trials - good
Wheelying Firetruck - Impressive first time you see it, but that's it - about 20 seconds of WOW factor (flames out the 4 exhausts were more impressive.
The Monster Mack Truck they had 1st year was more entertaining, crushing cars etc, same guy who owned it.
Titan Robot -X - is impressive when you see it - trouble is, althougth the programme suggests it will be in Arena 2 - it never enters - It entertained in the crowds near Arena 2 - Lots of very disapointed people waited around the arena for ages for it! If you go, then hang around between the Purple Helmets truck and the Food area and you'll catch the show!
Purple Helmets - Brilliant - anyone who's been to the IOM will have seen them. Very entertaining, very long show, very funny. The more beer they've drunk, the better they get, so catch them on the afternoon session if not both.
They also did a few impromptu races and other antics in and amongst as the fancy took them.
NB don't hang round where the Firetruck parks or you'll miss a lot of their show.
Hope it stays fine for anyone going tomorrow
10:30 - Wheelying Fire Engine - Arena 2
11:00 - Xtreme Trials Display Team
11:30 - Purple Helmets - Arena 2
13:30 - UKFMX Freestyle Motocross - Arena 1
14:30 - Xtreme Trials Display Team
- Wheelying Fire Engine - Arena 2 (not listed but displayed around here Saturday)
15:00 - Titan Robot X
15:30 - UKFMX Freestyle Motocross - Arena 1
16:00 - Purple Helmets - Arena 2
17:30 - Show Closes
Oh, BTW, if you hate Harleys then avoid it on Sunday as they're having a mass gathering and rideout apparently - smashing , NOT!
Unless of course, they're going to fit ploughs and seed rakes to them and sort the surrounding fields out!

not impressed
Did the show sat with my lad
He’s not impressed it was his first bike show
He found the trip down on the storm more fun
Not even the purple helmets could put on a good show in the conditions
Ground was sodden and I spent most of the day wondering if the bike had gone over
O well woodvale this weekend coming
Allsorts there costs a bit more but you get your moneys worth
