Fuel Cap Key Removal

so, the fuel cap got harder and harder to open :( , resulting in both keys getting bent, so rather than getting a new key (believe they are chipped, costing £40 ish) I decided to get a new cap. :D The problem lies in that I can't remove the key when the cap is not on the tank. Have just fitted the two brake lines on my storm, how are you going to secure the right hand line? Possibly using the original 'T' securing bolt and a piece of folded metal?
