Neat touch CA.
What bulb or headlight set-up are you using as it looks in the pic to be much brighter than standard, especially when you compare it to your side light (position light).
Chris.

Re: led's
Chris, it's a Bi-Xenon i.e. a dipping HID - very bright, yes - and I managed to get one with a slimline ballast and power feed straight from the battery.....sirch345 wrote:Neat touch CA.

I have since replaced the sidelight with an SMD LED of the same colour temp....
Next project is to replace the light strp with SMD LEDS (rather than conventional ones) - SMDs are far brighter - but even as std with just sidelights is very bright:
Glad to help anyone who wants to do this...
(mind you I have a ZX7R Projector dip and filament main which I may fit into a spare headlamp - I am an inveterate fiddler, and I just wanna see if I can do it - I converted a Euro Projector on my old 7R - RIP)
The next project is to get a new pair of slightly longer and less acute link pipes bent to move my stubbies back...
....and I'm gonna mount some flat panel indicators - in the opening made by removing the front indicators for sides, and in the little front vents to give fora=ward facing - so all will be flush...
Oh, and the clocks are coming off again to have LED "idiot lights"
Now - suggestions for what I do about the rear indicators...?

Re: led's
Chris, FleaBay has just about every variety you could want, the only issue with SMDs are the fact they aren't such a neat shape...sirch345 wrote:

Cheers C/A for the info, I had a feeling the UK wouldn't be able to supply them.cliveyandrews wrote: Chris, FleaBay has just about every variety you could want, the only issue with SMDs are the fact they aren't such a neat shape...

Changing the subject slightly is that a GT380 or GT550 in the pic with the ZX7R You don't see many of them about now.

Re: led's
That's a lovely example Clive.
I must admit I thought it was the GT380 in the first pic. I had a friend who had one and had it ported, went like sh!t off the proverbial shovel when you got it in the power band bit scary trying to stop it for the bends though
Pete

My new ride is a bit of a Howler and I love to make her Squeal
Re: led's
Cheers for the pic Clive
I agree with Pete, that is a very nice example. They were quite some bike in their day iirc. I bet it sounds great with the expansion pipes
Have you still got it If you have I should hang onto it.
Chris.

Yes I still have it - nearly 8 years now - it was quite a dog:
and was off the road for 2 years while I looked for exhausts and sorted the ignition. The spannies came from a guy in London who used a GT engine to race sidecar outfits - they're unsilenced and really have a sharp crackle:

I can't help but grin whenever I fire her up! The wheels are due to be respoked, and eventually I'll strip it and blast the frame back to bare - it's hammerite at the mo. I have a set of cast rings and small ends to fit too - the late model GTs used chrome bores, so the rings are sacrificial and dead rare, another lucky find....! Newtronics ignition for the sparks (and a set of lucas coils waiting to go on), timed with a homemade TDC guage, and iridium plugs.
I resprayed and pinstriped her 3 years ago - Rover Charcoal Metallic, polished the motor too. I just need to get the forks rechromed.
She's a labour of love, has cost me an arm, marriage, leg and several pints of blood.....
Pop into http://www.gt550.com sometime!
