Back with gang :)

Post by bluesman »

Hello everybody who still remember me...hello to all who don't :)

Just coming back to "old roots" - I still have my Firestorm but have not been doing much with it for a while spending most of time on big mods to my "beast" toy (Storm is beaty, this one beast) Suzuki DR800 and riding in new to me style.

Now I am back on Storm. I hope all of you still doing well

No, I am Ukrainian originally, was transferred to Belgium by company I work for 10 years ago and living here since.

Oh, just to mention. I was not posting here for like 2 years - during that time I mostly rode my DR800 on and off road after I had small crash with VTR 1500 km from home and had to limp back on Ibuprofene and epoxy sealer :)

Got 1997 (unrestricted) yellow storm with Wibers rear shock, 19 liter tank, revalved front, Arrow race cans, CBR1000F clipons and I am doing unthinkable now - I am touring it up. Installing Nonfango-based customized panniers rack + Aprilia Pegaso narrow panniers + looking for possibility to make crashbars - do not want to ride bike held together by wire again in case of accident in long tour.

Welcome back mate, good to hear you still have the storm, i sold mine at the begining of the year to Firestorm Mike on here, so it's still on the forum, lol.

you'll have a few posts and lots of gossip to catch up on.

Yep, time flying :)

I went a bit...ahm...mental modifying my DR800 and VTR was forgotten for a bit.
Now it's getting back on road :) all repaired except minor tank dent..well - there was just right plastic to fix, I got same color whole side cheaply and simply replaced it. Repair worked, but I like whole part better.
Repaired stays for rainy day. Engine side cover replaced too.

Sorry for offtopic, but got to show-off with my other bike too :)
In the mean time I managed to fully re-build my DR800, fit WP Extreme 50 mm ex-Husaberg forks on it, Wilbers shock, ex-Benelli Tornado Tre Arrow titanium can, almost self-made crashbars, Beringer brake, chain deflector, 2 set of wheels - supermoto and offroad, can be changed in 15 mins, WPR handlebar, original clocks removed and replaced by Trailtech Vapor (great device!), sump guard built from scratch, pannier rack made from bits and pieces and Aprilia Pegaso panniers fitted and now just chain oiler left to do. Most of stuff I built made from scratch on DR.
And did couple of 5-6000 km Norway trips on it with/without pillion + some offroad trainings. But I miss that quickness of my VTR, so...

Now I am employing similar approach to VTR :biggrin
Plans are: crash protection somehow, airhawk or just better seat for wifey, pannier racks (installed) + adapt them to take same Pegaso panniers (they are very narrow but hold 35 liters). Ah, and chain oiler of course. And may be off to ...not sure where yet. In summer.

I was amazed to see you posting again Bluesman, welcome back
I can hardly believe it was two years ago either, since you were last on here.

You'll have to post up some pic's of your DR800 with all the mods you've now done

Cheers,

Chris.

i know he's a kiddie fiddler like, but no-one gives you a warm welcome back like gary :D
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I'd love a DR but I'm far too short in the leg department for one. Cracking looking bikes.
