Re: vtr. in the beginning....
i do like sp engineerings carbon tri oval stubby end cans, a pair of them would look the nuts on my bike, and they might be a bit quieter than the race titanium jobbies i've got on mine now.........

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: vtr. in the beginning....
and cheap... big bore carbon can, polished stainless hanger and db killer; under £120. quality looks really good too.

Re: vtr. in the beginning....
i've only roughly lined the chain up so far, it clears the tyre, but only just.
hope to make progress tomorrow, weather permitting.
forks are in, wheel in, all lines up, R1 bits seem multi-interchangable.
the '09 radial forks fit into the '02 yokes. the '03 wheel, spindle and spacers fit the '09 forks, the '02 yokes hold the '09 forks the right distance apart, the '02 mudguard fits the '09 forks.
i've had to put the fork legs in the mill and lower the caliper mounts 6mm, as the '03 discs are 298mm, and the '09 ones are 310mm.
hopefully there won't be any nasty surprises when i fit the calipers. if needs be i can space the discs out or mill the wheel to sit them in a bit.
top yoke's drilled, risers and bars are on. got a choice of 3 radial brake master cylinders, (greedy, lol), headlight, bar end mirrors and indicators ready to go on.
hope it doesn't rain in the morning!!
oh, and the FCR's finally arrived today, (fekkin customs kept 'em nearly 3 weeks!), they're beautiful.... tiny rose jointed throttle linkage, mmmmmm
*thinks*
hmm, now i've got a set to copy, i wonder if it's feasible to buy a set of 41's for a jap 4 and make 2 sets of carbs for 'storms???? i'll need to buy an extra accelerator pump, but maybe????

Re: vtr. in the beginning....
chain run.
haven't run the lazer down it yet, poss the rear sprocket has to go over a few mil, or maybe offset both sprockets a little.

rear caliper centred on the disc by pumping the brake a few times, then holding it on.
the important gap here is the inside one, which is the thickness of a 20mm washer...
the outer one's not quite as critical, but turns out to be 3 20mm washers, (for now, 'til i turn a spacer up).
discs are same dia. (220mm).

'P' for phat ass. lol.

front end coming along.

side rads are going, i've bought a pair of aprilia RSV ones, which are about the same size, but forward facing.
as with all my projects, this'n probably snow-ball into something huge, especially as i've just picked up a trellis frame for £50.....

bloody hell mate, i thought i was bad with buying things, its starting to look the nuts tho,i ain't jealous tho honest........

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: vtr. in the beginning....
e-bay, gotta love it.
tyre was 1/2 price, had rear wheel complete already. forks and calipers were less than what i can sell the other R1 forks for....
plus selling all the storm stuff i'm taking off....
R1 sprocket is 43 tooth, so up 2 on the back might liven it up a bit.
