Oh....forgot to mention that I've fitted wider Renthal bars. I feel as though I've got better control of the bike now even though there is only a couple of inches difference.

Only thing is they are gold...not sure about that at the min, but at least it ties in with the colour of the forks and so painting them black doesnt have to be done as quick lol

Will get a pic of them when I'm next out on the bike (probably tomorrow when I go to Willingham Woods  )

Dave - The noise level is quite acceptable now, as long as you are a bit deaf! Luckily I am!!
I do want to put the GP can back on but, it'll need a serious re-pack for me to put it on there lol

Whilst I havent been up to much lately, I did manage to rope one of my mates to put my bike on his dyno. He used to race karts back in the day and just so happened to have a dyno locked away
He was tuning some karts when I got there of which one made just over 60bhp (not bad for a 200cc - I think- 2stroke!)

Image

After he had done this karts top power run it was time to get me bike on there...

Image

Managed to get a vid of goings on during the run but its not the best...I've got it on Youtube but chuff knows how I link it to here lol

Link is below if somebody can please please please show me how to properly insert the code lol

The result...

Image

Image

A very solid 104.51hp!! Considering I have a single sided exhaust on and according to other peoples experiences of such mods I was expecting around 80-90hp it has surprised me very much!!

WELL CHUFFED!!!!

Looking at the chart I've got a flat spot in the power around 6k rpm. Any ideas what this could be down to? I have noticed a bit of a stutter previously but seeing it on the chart kinda shows it for what it is.

My only real "problem" is I have no idea what mods have been done to the carbs (if any). Think my mate wants to the carbs down to see what jets are in there with a view to a DJ kit or similar. Any other suggestions? 8)

What are those taillights? They're just what I want. Maybe you have written it earlier in the thread but I'm just too lazy to search...

Ditto,

My mate raced a storm for a season using a two into one, it gained lower torque but at the expense of out right power at the top

they are from the usa, check out ebay usa for honda superhawk tail lights, they aren't that expensive but they don't throw out much in the way of light so i'm told, they do look good though and they come with an undertray attached....

I'm not planning to ride backwards either so... :D
No seriously, I dont think that is the biggest worry for me. I'm more concerned if I'm goiong to be able to mount it right...

it'd be interesting to see a fuelling graph next time you get near a dyno....

thing is, on a dyno, without a massive fan blowing air at it you'd never get the same fuelling as on the road but you will notice a difference in rideability if you get rid of the dip.
id guess it's when it comes off the needle and its a bit too rich.
maybe drop the needles a bit by removing the little shim...

looks nice in white btw

top job getting it looking so smart!
only thing i dont like about streetfightered storms is that the radiators look so exposed/unfinished

liking the paintwork though

I've not checked in for a while and the first thing I see is that people are checking out Goose lol

Benny - Will get to the dyno as soon as I get some new rubber, tax, MCCTs a decent service and we move house (got lots on my plate at the min lol) Would love to get the mix sorted as there is a definite cough when pinning the throttle.

Hellride - I got the lights/undertray off the bay. A company called pitek IIRC I wouldn't recommend them if you're going for show bike quality, but, as mine is/was a daily rider I kinda put up with the paper-thin thickness of the fibreglass. Each to their own though right? I was thinking about getting it painted white to match the colour of the bike, but I think with it being black it makes the back end look "thinner" if that makes sense?

lumpyv - I know what you mean about the rads people tend to always say, "Yeah it looks nice, but, them rads have gotta!" I can see where they're coming from but I'm going with the way of thinking that if you take them off or move them, then you're losing a part of the way the bike was meant to be. They're not ugly or offensive IMO so don't mind seeing them there at all. Plus it gives the bike some width (and with me sat on it, it needs it lol)

Bit of an update....

I haven't moved the bike since the end of Oct when I got a puncture in the front tyre. Basically after that I got a bit mardy and just locked her up, didnt even bother covering her over or putting the battery on a tender  she's been sat there in the back garden cold, wet and miserable since....I pumped the front tyre up yesterday to get ready to move her to the new house and low and behold the b8stard stayed up (checked this morning - same pressure as yesterday). I reckon some c-unit might have been in the back garden and let the tyre down, either that or its a very very very very slow puncture?!

I've also decided that the gearing (15-45) is a bit too fun....What I mean by that is going through a rear tyre in a month isn't very conducive to everyday riding lol so gonna go 15-41 for now until I can decide how many to go up at the back...possibly thinking 43? Suggestions - is it worth going up or shall I leave it with just the 15 on the front?

I was considering stripping it down and having the frame coated black but thought it's about time I had a season in the saddle...so this year will be maintenance and minor cosmetic tweaks only, I'm after a stubby carbon can if anybody has one lying around though 8)

Yeh I did love the look of the Micron...It was just too loud unfortunately...I repacked it 2-3 times whilst I had it on too, the thing just used to blow rivets like they were going out of fashion lol

Would like to get one back on there tho and see if it affects the HP figures?!

I can only find undertails for the rc51. Is that what you used? Was it hard to mount? How did you mount it?
