Starter probs.
Starter probs.
Anybody any thoughts before I go and get the wrong bit? When I press the starter button I can hear the solenoid clicking/hissing/ticking anyway doing something, but nowt at the starter. I've rocked the bike back and fore in gear thinking the starter might be stuck but no change. The back has been garaged and unused for the last 4 weeks but was starting fine before that. Any help please.
Re: Starter probs.
Most likely the starter lead has rusted away where it connects to the starter motor. Have a quick look under the rubber cover and see if this is the case. If it is just crimp a new connection onto the lead.
Re: Starter probs.
is battery fully charged?
check the bolt that holds the +ve lead on the starter is not corroded through
Check the battery connections are tight

Re: Starter probs.
Sounds like poor battery or starter connection as previously stated.
Mine was hard to start last week but reconnected to the optimate for a wee while and away she went. The battery on these bikes needs to be in tip top condition.

Are you still trying ithearadh wrote:Thanks guys that was in the back of my mind but couldn't be bothered to take off the plastic bits! off to try now.

If you do get the bike running check the charging at the battery with a multi meter. It should be showing between 13.5 to 15.5 volts with the engine running. Has your bike got the finned type rectifier fitted
