I have just got in with a big grin on my face
Adjusted the needles in my carbs onto the 2nd clip from the bottom and upped the mixture screws slightly richer and the bike goes like a rocket. Nice and smooth right through the rev range with no hiccups or flat spots. The only thing I could complain about is the idle is not perfectly smooth yet, still a bit of stutter, so mixture is not quite spot on. Will have a go at that when my screwdriver arrives in the next couple of days. It's probably only a 1/4 of a turn off. But I need to seal one of my exhaust link pipes which has a slight leak which don't help. The 50 pilots seem to work well being rich and the slide leaner to compensate.
So my current carb setting are as follows:
Factory Pro Jet kit
K&N Filter
Front carb
180 main
50 pilot
needle clip 2nd from the bottom
A/F 2.0 turns out
Rear carb
182 main
50 pilot
needle clip 2nd from the bottom
Added 20thou Shim
A/F 2.1/4 turns out
Standard emulsion tubes in both carbs
Bike seems really good just a slight bit of fine tuning here and there and I will be ready for a dyno run. I would like to replace the shim with a 10thou shim rather than the 20, just got to find one. Fine tuning is going to be tricky and I'm not sure I am going to feel much of the subtle changes, so will have to go with dyno results. The dyno will probably tell me to put 48s in and richen up the needles.
For now I am very happy with the results.
