today me and carlos took the clutch off for an inspection, the plates are pretty worn, but other than that it seemed ok, we then swapped the clutch plates with the ones from my other engine, which are like new. we also took of the front sprocket cover to inspect that area for leaks, we noticed what might be a tiny hole on the bottom of the slave cylinder casing, but nothing else, we took out the rod and greased it, put it all back together and bled the clutch, what a pain in the butt that is. but the bike doesn't feel any different. the knocking noise is less pronounced, but it still rides like a pile of poo, i have to rev the bike past 3k and slip the clutch to get it going.
we might have another look at the electrics, but its looking more and more like bad news. i'm seriously thinking of finding the loney to get the spondon frame powder coated asap and getting it built back up for the monopoly run, but theres still a list of items i need to get and money's tight. the plan being to sell the second bike so i could re-invest the money on the spondon bike.........
i'm really depressed about it. i'm really fed up with this bike now.
i could just whack my good engine in this bike and use it for summer, or i could put all my nice bits on this bike and sell the spondon frame and rearsets. i really don't know what to do........ :(

put all the good stuff on this one and sell the spondon frame as im sure there will be a long queue for it .
and that way you get a good bike to ride and some money for fuel .

The thing is we know the compression will be low but it's how low. And then why would it be fine one week and then not the next. There is a bit of noise from the bearing on the mainshaft when spinning the inner clutch basket, a little more than there should be but not excessive to the state of ball bearings falling out and causing and wobble in the basket. I'm still not convinced that it's not electrical or even bad fuel. Fuel is the only thing we haven't ruled out as it was one of the things we added and then all of the sudden thing's went tit's up. :confused It's starting to do my head in now.

Don't throw the fuel in the tank away though in case it's not that. And if it is that then keep it for getting the BBQ going or cleaning parts. :biggrin

You can borrow my comp tester if you need to.

Not exactly round the corner but you could collect from where I work in Crayford, if that helps.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

thanks for the offer tony. if i'm honest, i don't want to do the comp test, because it will probably be bad news.....
