Thanks for the input guys. A conclusion has been reached and will be a surprise for all of you

Popkat; yes it's an 04 model on an 05 plate. What is PAIR and how would I go about removing it, do you know?

Thanks everyone :D

PAIR is an acronym for Pulse Secondary Air Injection > http://bit.ly/13xtG80

Virt you spend too much time chasing men around on here and not enough reading.

Here you go PAIR removal which is an emissions device added on later models. You don't need/want it. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26096

Wicky beat me to it but I will post anyway. :biggrin

Since removing the unit I definitely have noticed a difference. Mainly there is a lot less popping & farting on the overrun. Some people like that but it was getting on my nerves. Be assured there is no loss in performance, I actually find the throttle response through the limiter crisper & cleaner.

Oh okay, I'll start on that whenever I can be bothered and don't feel dead from work

Next question now, what's the general rule of thumb on race / baffle-less exhausts when it comes to the local constabulary? I know someone with a GSXR 400 who performed a bafflectomy and she never gets harassed.. Although I'm slightly concerned it might be a different story when something similar gets done on something that isn't a pushbike

Virt just do the bafflectomy on your standard exhaust .
If you want to borrow mine to see if you like the sound you can .

Hmm.. I'm looking at something a bit past a bafflectomy however...

As long as you cans do not have Not for Road use stamped on them you should be OK. Even if a copper wanted to get a bit pedantic it's only a mr meaner. The majority of traffic plod will turn a blind eye as they realise it's a safety thing, but there is always going to be the butt that thinks about revenue. Just go up a couple of gears when you see plod.

Now might be a good time to ask then :P but okay, thanks. I know I'll be safe in Rugby as I umm.. know a few plods and they're all good people and the police in this immediate area are either lazy as feck or good people who will understand that boys will be boys  I'm mostly just worried about the police where I work or anywhere else I may go on the storm once I have it..

If you fit open cans just stash the baffles under the seat do if you do get tugged you can fit them and ride away without a spanking !
