Race brake line setup

Post by darkember »

Just got delivery of my new brake & clutch hoses today, very nice too :D. Has anybody here got a race setup for the front brake system using the double banjo bolt?? What I would like to know is: do I need to use 3 copper washers to lock the 2 banjos in or do I need put 2 washers between the 2 banjos hence using 4 washers. This is all happening at the master cylinder. Thanks

One copper washer between each join, so bolt in hand slide, washer, line, washer, line washer on and attach and tighten. Don't put two washers next to each other.

Make sure you get the lines the right way around. The angles on the ends if you know what I mean. I will take a close up picture later of the front of my lines where they attach so you can see the angles.

Niceone pretty much got the same. Hel made them up to the Firestorm spec they use. The only difference I can see are that both the master brake cylinder banjos are 20 degree bends. Its not an issue as they will both clear each other as I can offset them as well.

Thanks

What you whip out half dressed and flash is between you and the GimpMaster.....

No more pics, please.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Cybercarl could you tell me what route you took with your throttle cables when you did the conversion. Below is a photo of my present setup with the standard clipons.

As you can see they pass round to the left of the right fork leg & then out & through the center of the diamond frame. Would this still be the best route to take when I fit the risers or do i need to go to the right side of the right fork leg?

I left them all as standard when I had the vfr bars no change at all. You will find that braided lines are little longer than the original Honda rubber hoses so you should be OK.

Derr... where was my head LOL Throttle cables I routed the same but IIRC I had to loosen them off at the carbs to the maximum adjustment like I have now with the HRC throttle tube. I may have adjusted them at the throttle end as well.

Working on my bike today I noticed my throttle cables do run on the outside of the forks. It does not really matter which side they go, just run them so they reach and don't get caught or pull or anything when turning the steering.

I thought they might as it will give them another 3-4 odd inches of slack. Starting the upgrade early tomorrow, shed loads to do. I have noticed that i will need to remove the fairing due to 1 inaccessible clip holding the clutch hose below the rad, what a pain. Mind you it will facilitate fitting the brake hoses.

It's not a bad idea removing it anyway. It gives you access to run everything neatly and gets it out the way in case you spill any fluid.
