Failing cct???

Post by 59stormfire »

Hi guys, opinions needed if you could please. My recently aquired storm has a bit of a clatter when coming down the revs on the overrun at about 1500rpm and sometimes on tick-over if you tickle the throttle. This only happens when the motors hot and done a few miles. What do you think,,,,,failing cct???

Milage? and when were the valve clearances last measured?

Usually CCT fail without warning, so get them attended to pronto > See the workshop knowledge base sub forum for how to fit manuals or how to do the failsafe stopper mod.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

The bikes done 22,000 miles and i have no idea if the valves have ever even been checked. The ccts look to be original and don't appear to have any kind of mods done to them.

I have just put a manual cct on mine because it had a horrible clank on the front cylinder and it's fixed it completely. I think CCT's must be able to just weaken off as normal ones do as well as fail completely.
Budget storm gradually on the road to spangliness.

If they have not been changed then do them as a matter or urgency as a precaution. You can check your valve clearance at the same time. But at that sort of mileage I doubt they need adjusting but should have been checked at the 16,000 service interval.
