Just looked but can't work out if the mounting holes are the same on sp1/2 as they are 954/929AMCQ46 wrote:have a look at the table in 1st post here http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 94#p123094

Re: brakes help
the main thing in that table is to get the correct sized master cyl to go with the brakes you fit........you will see they are not all teh same piston sizes and they were uised with different master cyls for that reason.

The O.D. of the rotor can be different though.AMCQ46 wrote:mounting holes are all the same
The only "direct" SP1\SP2 replacement is (I believe) an '06-'07 CBR1000rr

Re: brakes help
:/
So running 929 forks on sp-1 brakes
Then I might need 1000rr discs

Re: brakes help
if you're running 929 forks, you'll need 929 or 954 rotors (330mm). SPs used 320mm and CBR1000RR used either 310 or 320mm (depending on the years; IIRC, 310s for 04-05, 320 thereafter). Were they radial calipers, you could simply add or remove a shim to compensate, but as they are axial, you with have to use the proper (330mm) rotors or look at getting some adaptors fashioned......

Re: brakes help
Re-reading this thread I'm not sure if some terms have gotten confused.
When you say "brakes" do you mean the calipers? If so, yes they bolt right on.
For some reason I was thinking you were referring to rotors and that is why I gave you the info that I did.
You want to run whatever rotors were stock with the forks you use.... that is the easiest way to get all the bits to line up.
You can mix and match but the reward isn't usually worth the effort with a Honda sport bike USD front end as all the brake set ups work rather well.

Re: brakes help
The Nissin axial calipers used on Honda sporbikes of that period are externally identical (same casting). The differences lay in the pistons used (and machining required to make them fit)..... In all instances, they are top quality bits.....

Re: brakes help
Yes I was asking about different brake calipers fitting
I.e sp-1/954/929
320 discs with 929 brakes and m/c will work then

Re: brakes help
I doubt a 320mm rotor will allow the pads to have full contact; in my mind, it doesn't make much sense in going all out to get great parts then to cut a corner with rotors that won't allow you to get full contact, thereby failing unlock their full potential......
of course, perhaps I should just
