H. POTTER

Post by RAINMAKER »

Well just finished latest book, Harry Potter and the half blood Prince.
Have to say I think both this book and the last one are just waffle, JK trying to spin out the story with very little real content, its a rip off money maker. Bit of a let down 607 pages of cotton wool.
Bit dissapointed.
Sure you'll still read it but is it a rip off ?
it may be clever, but its not big.

I read the first three or four books (not sure) & noticed there was increasingly more "evil" in each one. Don't be slapping me with the should we or shouldn't we let our kids read them debate. That should be up to individual parents. It's just an observation. First one had just a few pages of slightly off stuff. Second one had a chapter or two, etc, etc.

She's a brilliant author. No arguments there. Couldn't put any of them down. And she's done amazing things for the youth (well, all ages really) & reading. Top marks for that.

Bloody new book!

Picked it up for a five minute look before I went to sleep, and managed to put it down an hour later. JK seems to have a way of not letting you put the books down.

Could be a magic spell

If I am going to keep reading it I'll have to go to be earlier

I personally can't stand Harry Potter. I loved Lord of the Rings though, rather different I know, but thought I would add that anyway. :)

New avatar. I've had the TT600 for a year now and just sold my Bandit last night so thought it was time to swap over the old avatar. :D

Have you read any or are you just anti all the hype (as is often my justification for dislikes)?

Hey VTRgirl, no offense to you or anyone but I just can not get into it or enjoy it much. I saw a good portion of one of the movies on a plane flight somewhere a few years ago and it only confirmed my initial feelings about H Potter. He was flying around on some huge bird with his friends in one part and it was so cheesey I couldn't believe the movie had just come out. It was like watching "Grease" or "Xanadu" for me, which is like rubbing sandpaper against my skin, it just goes against all of my interests and likes. But I'm sure many of the shows I watch would drive many people crazy as well. Hey, variety is what makes this world go round, right?

No offence to be taken. Was just curious as to why... I've only seen one of the movies & wasn't overly impressed. Can certainly understand the Grease & Xanadu phobias! Haha. Have to confess... Dallas, Texas? Would lurrrrrve to hear your accent!

Haha, um, I guess to be technical I actually don't know what literally makes the world go around. Definately a higher power. It's pretty amazing the way it all works, eh! :)

Well, I might disapoint you. :( My accent isn't that strong. Of course I'm dating a girl from St. Louis, Missouri and she says she can hear it a little but down here in Texas amongst the real Texans they think I'm a yankee because it's not very strong. I've lived in Texas for 29 years, most of my life, but I was born in Northern California and my parents are from Chicago, Illinois so (THANKFULLY!) I grew up in a house hold where my family talked normal. I don't really want to have a Texas accent. I'm not too fond of the way it sounds. :)
