H. POTTER
H. POTTER
Well just finished latest book, Harry Potter and the half blood Prince.
Have to say I think both this book and the last one are just waffle, JK trying to spin out the story with very little real content, its a rip off money maker. Bit of a let down 607 pages of cotton wool.
Bit dissapointed.
Sure you'll still read it but is it a rip off ?

I read the first three or four books (not sure) & noticed there was increasingly more "evil" in each one. Don't be slapping me with the should we or shouldn't we let our kids read them debate. That should be up to individual parents. It's just an observation. First one had just a few pages of slightly off stuff. Second one had a chapter or two, etc, etc.
She's a brilliant author. No arguments there. Couldn't put any of them down. And she's done amazing things for the youth (well, all ages really) & reading. Top marks for that.

Hey VTRgirl, no offense to you or anyone but I just can not get into it or enjoy it much. I saw a good portion of one of the movies on a plane flight somewhere a few years ago and it only confirmed my initial feelings about H Potter. He was flying around on some huge bird with his friends in one part and it was so cheesey I couldn't believe the movie had just come out. It was like watching "Grease" or "Xanadu" for me, which is like rubbing sandpaper against my skin, it just goes against all of my interests and likes. But I'm sure many of the shows I watch would drive many people crazy as well. Hey, variety is what makes this world go round, right?VTRgirl wrote:Have you read any or are you just anti all the hype (as is often my justification for dislikes)?Tony_tbone wrote:I personally can't stand Harry Potter.

No offence to be taken. Was just curious as to why... I've only seen one of the movies & wasn't overly impressed. Can certainly understand the Grease & Xanadu phobias! Haha. Have to confess... Dallas, Texas? Would lurrrrrve to hear your accent!Tony_tbone wrote:Hey VTRgirl, no offense to you or anyone but I just can not get into it or enjoy it much. Haha, um, I guess to be technical I actually don't know what literally makes the world go around. Definately a higher power. It's pretty amazing the way it all works, eh!cupasoop wrote:Thought that was gravity or something like thatTony_tbone wrote:Hey, variety is what makes this world go round, right?
