The AA bloke had his multimeter on checking the R/R, clocked it at 13.8V. It's a Tour Max replacement finned one, less than a year old. I believe the one it replaced was working too as it eventually turned out to be the starter motor that had died. Check the R/R - Is it an original OEM unfinned, MOSFET type from an R1/R6, later Honda finned replacement, or a cheapy Chinese ebay copy?
as I'm thinking about investing in one of these myself,

Or have I got that wrong, it's not the brackets themselves Is that negative point just the negative terminal or the positive as well ?
