R/R is fairly newish & is working well as of last week when the battery went flat
Doesn't sound like the R/R is "working well"

Check the R/R - Is it an original OEM unfinned, MOSFET type from an R1/R6, later Honda finned replacement, or a cheapy Chinese ebay copy?
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

The AA bloke had his multimeter on checking the R/R, clocked it at 13.8V. It's a Tour Max replacement finned one, less than a year old. I believe the one it replaced was working too as it eventually turned out to be the starter motor that had died. Which admittedly could be the problem this time as it's a refurbed motor on there at the moment

I replaced the battery with another Motobatt one Chris, I suspect it was actually the starter motor (newly refurbished) that seized & I pressed the starter button for just too long, battery overheated and the terminal & plastic surround caught fire. I'm happy with them to be honest, I was just a bit peeved at the time........

I've had two of these batteries and I've never had a problem, its only negative point is the terminals seem to be made out of swiss cheese, very easy to cross thread the terminals.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

So long as it was not the battery at fault, that was all I was concerned about.

Cheers for getting back to us Steve.

A/P, cheers for the heads up on the battery terminal brackets. Being soft-ish they will match the alternator cover center inspection cap :eh: Or have I got that wrong, it's not the brackets themselves :?:

Is that negative point just the negative terminal or the positive as well ? You can't have a negative positive terminal, the laws of physics just wont have it...

Come on Marty be fair any bolt/nut/terminal whatever will be easily cross-threaded when your as hamfisted as good self...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
