Battery cca

Post by denisblackvtr »

Happy new year to everyone, I haven't been on here for a while due to personal probs. Anyway I will be putting my baby back on the road this year and I was wondering if anybody knows what the cca of a standard battery is? Thanks in advance. Den.

Cold Cranking Amps (CCA)

CCA's are defined as the discharge loads measured in amps that a fully charged battery at 0 degrees F (-17.8 degrees C) can deliver for 30 seconds while maintaining the voltage above 7.2 volts.

Basically, the bigger the number, the longer the battery will keep the engine spinning over fast enough to aid easy starting.

Cheers Tattoo, is that the standard output coz i'm looking at replacing the battery with a higher cca but they seem expensive for just a few more amps.

thank you  perhaps I can put this in "what have you learned today" thread.

btw , how long is a battery supposed to last? ive still got the one that was on it when I bought it 4 years and about 8,000 miles ago. I give it the trickle in the winter and the bike starts a treat all the while ? also had the old r/r fail in that period.

Yep standard output according to the spec listing...as for a replacement,i went for the motorbatt..alittle more in price (although i got mine at half price),higher cranking amps and my bike hasn't failed to start even when the temps been in the minus numbers..the only downside i found is that the battery cover no longer fits...
