Removing a dent from tank

Post by Tenesmus »

Spot the dent...

Is there any way of pushing it out? The paint is fine so I don't want to mess about too much from the outside. Is it possible to get something weirdly angled through the filler?

Someone else might confirm this, but that looks like a compressor job. Either that or remove tank, empty, take out fuel sender unit and something blunt from the inside would be easier than from the filler hole. I'd try a piece if 2x1" timber cut square,( if it will fit ) with a heavy duty plastic bag wrapped round it in case of any splinters. Dont use anything remotely sharp.

Wow!!! I'm impressed not seen that process done before. Looks like it needs some serious skill positioning and controlled force on the slide hammer.

Yes but the surface is much bigger and metal more flexible
there is a suction thing that works wonders on cars but our tanks are much sharper and thicker....

Seen it done with a compressor with good results.
Budget storm gradually on the road to spangliness.
