Yep.
9KG or 9.5KG if you're of the lardy persuasion is about right.

is it more of a "you like the thought of USD forks" than you want better handling?. My Forks are far better since Roger did them for me, the brakes are ok with new fluid and braided hoses and better pads. I do like USD forks, but i don't think handling will be better than they are now tbh.

Opinion, guesswork or have you ridden a bike with USD's fitted?
I think it's mostly about whether they've been set up for you or someone of a different weight.
And what you're used to; every change you make to sussies takes a day or two to get used to.

Try Brembo pads with the Rogered forks for vastly improved braking efficiency.

You could always fit GSXR1000 k1/2 calipers. straight swap on original vtr forks/discs.

My track bike has 1998 cbr900rr forks on you need the top and bottom yolks and to machine two spacers for the discs so they fit i have all so put
stiffer springs in as i found the forks sag a little to much.
Can i ask what settings you have on your bike, I have just installed the same and am looking for a starting point before I take her out on the road?
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

i highly recomend a USD swap. really what i recomend is a full front end swap. i went with the RC51 front end and you get a much more rigid, planted front end, with a much better brake package as well. veryyyy good mod for the storm.

what alot of people over look when they say "just revalve and respring the stockers for your weight" is that the lower yoke is a POS. its totally useless and allows so much flex in the forks that its complete garbage for performance riding.

this picture is of an RC51 front end on the left and a VFR (not a VTR but They are VERY similar , especially when it comes to the lower yoke which is basically the same as the VTR) look at the size differnce and how tiny the VFR(VTR) lower yoke is.

the thing is the USD swap, you will basically need everything from the steering stem forward new except for new controls. mine cost me $800 US dollars but after i sold all my old parts and made $750 back, the whole thing only cost me $50

No direct comparison for stiffness is possible from merely looking at them.
The lower yoke casting on a std one is cast iron; the lower yoke on a blade yoke is cast aluminium alloy.

Just like a thin and lightcarbon fibre hugger is stiffer than a big and heavy GPS one, you might be right, but you can't tell just by looking.

ya but i can tell alot about stiffness/rigidity by the feel before and after. its not disputed that the heavy storm with the skinny 41mm stockers have alot of flex if your riding hard. especially as you factor in rider weight. if there was no flex in the system fork braces wouldnt exist.

on my RC forks, they are 54mm where the lower triple clamps onto them. thats 13mm thicker than stock. thats ALOT more rigidity. although yes the stanchion's are 41mm on the RC but its known that the majority of flex happens at the triple, not the wheel end of the forks.

the benefits of a re-spring and re-valve for rider weight are a HUGE upgrade to factory springs and valving. and a fork brace adds to that as well.

still a properly tuned set of USD forks will always be better than properly tuned stockers. although i will say that it does cost a pretty penny until you sell your old parts. the better RC brakes and much lighter SP2 front wheel just added to the benefits of the swap for me. and IMHO the much more rigid USD front end will actually make your bike handle worse if things arnt sorted in the rear. an upgraded shock... a 900RR brace... it all works together to make a nice package.

£225 I was quoted. A bargain I reckon.

If you have the money get a USD front end done, new springs and oil in and it will update date the bike no end, there is a reason modern sports bikes don't use RWU they are only found on budget bikes these days, with a USD you will get better more direct feel from the front end where it was a bit wollowy, plus it was a big weight saving over the original iirc

Oh and it makes the bike look like something this side of the millennium

Plus the bigger brakes of a 929 / 954 or radial set up from a 1000RR could never be matched by standard storm equipment

All depends how much you have to spend and how much you are in a rush, some bargains can be had in eBay / Gumtree

just remember you can sell your old parts after you do am USD swap and if you do things right you can break even or come out ahead.
