Is it a Mosfet version (FH) or a conventional (SH) one?

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

R1 / R6 will need rewiring as the plugs are different.

Check the part number if it starts SH its the older type same as the storm just finned.

They are better than the standard ones in the respect that they dissipate the heat better but they can still fail.

Honda ones off various different bikes are finned a bit smaller but plug straight in...still be SH though so still prone to fail.

Best to get a Mosfet type one. These will deff still need a rewire to the Storm loom. Always have part number starting FH & will have two plugs on them.

Do a bit of research Mosfet & Shingden (?)

Make sure that any connectors you use are big enough and good quality, and solder rather than crimp, unless you have good crimps....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
