I went to 1.5 rear and 1.25 front and it ran well

Hmm... How many turns out on the A/F mixture screws F&R would you go for initially on my setup?
I've got the sheared screw out:

Thanks dude I'll try those settings, then have a read on how to get the "blip test" just right.

Never done the blip test myself as I like to ride it and feel the difference .
I set my by going in to 3/4 turns out so it lean surges then turn out 1/4 till it stops ,make a note of there position and keep going out 1/4 turn till it rich surges and take a note .
I then set it half way between the two for a base setting . Then I'll go in or out 1/8 till it's crisp
The thumb screws make this easier and more so with the overflow bottle removed :-)

It's handy for setting the the carbs as it's out the way and once it's set up I'll refit the standard one .

Of course you can always ask about that thread right here......macdee wrote:8541 hawk has a setup for standard carbs/ needles/ 48 pilots etc/ standard air filter/slip on,slloydie wrote: I have had 3 sets of carbs but all have been dyno jetted Carl so I don't know standard setting .
you need to read it yourself there's loads of info
let us know how you get on

Also the "base line" pilot adjustment recommendation is a bit on the rich side. I did that as a lot of folks just do the base line and don't adjust from there so I would rather have them a bit rich than too lean.
I guess it's old habits from the 2 stroke days, hey I even still cover the clutch when riding......
