looks those are designed for attaching to bikes with existing risers, it would be necessary to chop off the locator on the base to allow it to sit flush.
I've now gone all European and bought a KTM Superduke GT and Aprilia RSV1000R :D ,
Storm is now gone  .

Yes mine were like that, I cut the bottom half round off using one of those very thin cutting disc's (about 1mm thick) on my 5" angle grinder, and a steady hand :) while holding them in my vice jaws. Then just finished them off with a flat file. I have seen some in the past where that bottom half round is held in place with a hex headed socket type bolt, then all you need to do is unbolt them which would be easier,

chopping them 'lug' off isn't a problem (I'm quite handy with a cutting disc  ) but for sure unbolting it would be easier, the clip-ons or off at the moment as I need to nip up the taper head bearing which have developed a slight knock after the Walsh road trip, so I’ll check the underside of the top yoke see where any bolts are likely to finish up and how much clearance is available around the protruding fork tops

I was going to use a hacksaw, but the angle grinder certainly made the job a lot easier :)

Here's the ones I remember seeing from M&P, the ones with the bolt on bottom half round I was talking about (hover over the pic to make it bigger in the link):-

I'm going to add a bit of 6mm or 8mm thick ally plate under the top yoke where the bolts go through, just to stiffen it all up a bit

Didn't someone used to make a flat bar conversion kit that clamped around the top of the forks like a conventional clip on? I've had a quick look on Google but can't find anything...anyone know?

yes being abe to unbolt the U section at th bottom is definitley better than having to chop it off.

it wouldn't be surprised to find that someone had done a conversion that bolts on to the forks rather than to top yoke, it makes lots of sense to have a bolt on solution rather having to drill the top yoke.
I've decided now to leave the conversion for a while, the bike runs out of tax next week so it'll be SORN'd till new year, this will give me the time strip it down and do some experimenting, fabricating bolts to forks bracket may be the best solution I’ll update the post when I have anything t report.
