1) Fixed front indicator back on. (Must have knocked it off removing the dust cover. It's a 1998 bike but the holes for the indicators look shaped for the blobby ones on later models. I've got little after-market LEDs which don't really fit the holes that well, but think I've fixed it back ok. We'll see how long it lasts..)

2) Cleaned the spray off it picked up when I rode it to work on Wed. Didn't pick the best day for that.

3) Adjusted the chain. Having got advice on this forum I didn't follow it, mainly through lack of paddock stand and handy person to sit on the bike. The chain was resting on the exhaust pipe when stationary with a fair bit of play in the chain. I was advised that you can over tighten it if someone isn't sitting on the bike when you do it. First problem was that my socket wrench isn't really up to the job. Only just managed to get the axle nut off. Then tightened the chain so that it no longer rests on the pipe and doesn't clank it when you lift the chain up and let go. Made sure the markers matched up good on each side then tightened the axle back up pretty much as hard as I could and similar to how it was before. There's still an inch and a half or so's play in the chain. Good enough for now?
we can give the bike a once over tomorrow mate....

For an underslung rear caliper have a look at some of the Triumph range, by the way.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

spent most of the day with carl the carb and also met a very nice storm rider called mike tw9, swapped front ends on the bike ready for an mot, had to trim the forks to fit the sp2 calipers again!
also fitted the dash with internal gpi, I haven't programmed it yet, i'll have a go tomorrow.
I didn't even get the chance to dyno it.... :(
carl dyno'd his and it had a great torque curve....

Finished the service and other bits.
new Plugs, Oil and Filter. Checked the MCCT,s and changed brake fluid and coolant. Pads out and pistons cleaned, air filter checked. Chain check, cleaned and lubed. Adjusted the rear brake light switch, checked all bolts for security and then. rode it. So much fun.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Changed to a blue 80W/100W headlight bulb, but the retaining clip fell out- a tiny bit of the headlight has snapped allowing the clip to fall out.
I just made a small washer with a turnover section to hold it in place, but of course the fairing had to come off, so while I was there I balanced the carbs and did a few more bits towards getting the ram air fitted.

Both mirror indicators have stopped working, with rattly bits in each- I should filter more carefully, I suppose, but they're only cheap mirrors so I'm not too fussed about making a gap slightly narrower than the mirrors are....It's the Sarf Circular, it's what everyone does.

I've done better than mirrors, the bike breathed in and the footpeg told the side of the car off for getting too close. Caught a wheelarch and decided to to have more fun  Lucky it only clipped the rear of my can otherwise that would have been ripped right off   This waqs a while back though and then came along Harris.
