we can give the bike a once over tomorrow mate....Mike TW9 wrote:What have I done to my bike today?
1) Fixed front indicator back on. (Must have knocked it off removing the dust cover. It's a 1998 bike but the holes for the indicators look shaped for the blobby ones on later models. I've got little after-market LEDs which don't really fit the holes that well, but think I've fixed it back ok. We'll see how long it lasts..)
2) Cleaned the spray off it picked up when I rode it to work on Wed. Didn't pick the best day for that.
3) Adjusted the chain. Having got advice on this forum I didn't follow it, mainly through lack of paddock stand and handy person to sit on the bike. The chain was resting on the exhaust pipe when stationary with a fair bit of play in the chain. I was advised that you can over tighten it if someone isn't sitting on the bike when you do it. First problem was that my socket wrench isn't really up to the job. Only just managed to get the axle nut off. Then tightened the chain so that it no longer rests on the pipe and doesn't clank it when you lift the chain up and let go. Made sure the markers matched up good on each side then tightened the axle back up pretty much as hard as I could and similar to how it was before. There's still an inch and a half or so's play in the chain. Good enough for now?
