reading the speedo on a late model bike

anyone who has a late model storm with the updated dash will know how hard it is to read the speedo at a glance, (lets face it we don't have time to stare at it) so I decided to add a little something, a few strips of bright sticky backed paper, easy to do, remove the clocks from the front subframe, just 3 bolts, then unplug them from the wiring loom, very easy as it's just one plug. then unscrew all the screws along the outside edge of the rear of the clocks, no need to unscrew the screws in the centre. then remove the casing. I used a scapel and some small sticky pads bought from ebay.
then carefully stuck them in place, I choose the 3 main speeds, 30/70/100, hopefully now i'll be able to gauge what speed i'm doing a little easier.

not sure the yellow tape was the best colour, i'm thinking fluorescent orange or bright red would have been better, i'll see how I get on with the yellow first tho....

Only if in a 70 zone. If your in a 30 zone and are caught going 60 or above, that is also a ban zone. I believe it's 30mph over the speed limit for the road your on that is a possible ban.

A digression from the main topic but... My understanding is that, if you do over 100mph or double the speed limit its a 6 rather than 3 point offence, which means you have to appear in court, and the magistrate must consider a ban, but doesn't have to. I happen to be fairly well informed about this due to a small incident many years back when, in a 30 zone where the traffic was doing 40ish, I overtook, then the road opened up, I thought it was a 40 zone & I accelerated to something in the region of 60. The car behind turned out to be unmarked road cops who I managed to wind up when I denied doing 60, so they conned me into signing something that allowed them to destroy the video evidence and then prosecuted me (the word of 2 cops is enough in law, but even so, that stinks!). In court, the magistrate wanted to say she wouldn't ban me if I plead guilty, but the police prosecutor objected saying the law required her to retain the option of a ban until she had considered the evidence of the case. There was a fair bit of too-ing and fro-ing but she stuck to her guns, so I got 6 points a fine and costs for doubling the limit. I assumed it would be completely routine and was surprised about the legal intricacies.

back in 1999 I got done doing 80 in a 30, went to court pleaded guilty and walked away with a £300 fine and 6 points, I should have had a ban, but going to court suited and booted, saying yes sir/madam no sir/madam made all the difference....
and mac, no one knows I have a scalpel....mwhahahahaha
