Has anyone tried using Nord Lock ridged lock washers on manual cct s as a way of locking them - just a random thought

I haven't -not a bad idea but
If you shove a bit of hylomar blue into the thread, it not only stops that dreaded little oil leak off the rear cct but also acts as a bit of thread lock.
Just a thought

Does that stuff go brittle or stay soft. I know normal threadlock is not wise as it will go brittle and potentially fail. I use silicon gasket sealantPete.L wrote:I haven't -not a bad idea but

put a small 0 ring under the locknut, small dab of silicone and job done. Mine have never leaked or come undone.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

My APE's have o rings but I think its a bit of a gimmick as the thread pitch on the APE is far too course for the o ring to workbigtwinthing wrote:put a small 0 ring under the locknut, small dab of silicone and job done. Mine have never leaked or come undone.

It stays soft as it is a gasket sealant. Silicon will work too but Hylomar is designed for engines so it will last longer and unlike silicon its less fussy being in contact with oil.darkember wrote:Does that stuff go brittle or stay soft. I keep a small tube of it in my garage and it's probably been there about ten years, unlike silicon (or me) it doesn't go off with age either.
