Cleaning swing arm
Cleaning swing arm
As I'm stripping the back of my storm it seems a good time to give the swing arm a full clean - having said that I am not planning to take it off.
So what's best way to clean if up
Thanks

Re: Cleaning swing arm
for degreasing I use surfex hd from bilt hamber, fantastic stuff and friendly to the environment, so even the tree huggers can do one....
as mentioned before, check the lower suspension linkage, and re-grease if needs be.

Re: Cleaning swing arm
Is that an abba bike lift I see there?
Looks like it pivots on the swinging arm bolt?
Reason is I have one arriving tomorrow !!!!!

Re: Cleaning swing arm
I just done mine, used gunk and worked in with a toothbrush.
Then I went a step further and got all the paint off the smooth bits and polished it up.
Looks ok

Re: Cleaning swing arm
that's an abba stand mate, yup it pivots on the swingarm bolt, I also have a rear lift arm, which raise's the front wheel, a very handy piece of kit, it made painting the forks a real doddle....

Re: Cleaning swing arm
When the lift arrives I will be stripping that pesky rear suspension and checking it out
Re: Cleaning swing arm
Tricky then to remove swing arm with the abba stand to get at the linkages... you'll have to wedge it up and use engine mounts or...

Re: Cleaning swing arm
I wasn't going to take the swing arm off, unless there appears to be wear. I should be able to get all the other linkage off using the abba stand?

WD40 works great and leaves a protective layer to boot
