Can you not seal the tank as normal and then bore the little hole out afterward if it closes up? Quite a lot of sealant would have to go through the hole, around the ring and down the tube before causing any sort of blockage?
Speaking from absolutely no experience here so maybe that's a naïve outlook.

Re: Explanation of How Petrol Tank Breather Works
It took a great deal of effort and mucking around to position the dental type mirror to get a picture of the breather hole inside the tank. To be able to bore sealant out of the existing hole if it was needed would be darn near impossible I would think. Can't get much in through the tank filler cap. Maybe a piece of wire the correct size could be bent in a "U" shape though and maneuvered up into the hole would work.TravisZack wrote:Can you not seal the tank as normal and then bore the little hole out afterward if it closes up? Just put a small wooden plug (half-a-cocktail stick) in it that you can easily remove after coating.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: Explanation of How Petrol Tank Breather Works
There is a leak at the rear of the tank. I thought it was where the rear bracket was welded on. But now I'm thinking it might be the "O" ring that seals the petrol outlet on the '03 models. Early models don't have this setup. They have a different fuel tap arrangement. Waiting for the "O" ring to arrive in the mail.popkat wrote:Why do you want to put Por15 in the tank, it looks mint insidethunderbolt wrote:My breather hole for reference.

You are right, the inside of the tank is in mint condition.

Great picture Don.
This was a very much needed thread. Something that has not been covered so much on the forum. Great info on the Phosphoric acid too.
