Remember to invoke the prayer...

''Our Lord VTR in heaven, CCT be thy name, give us today our daily V twin GRUNT & hallowed be thy Reg/Rec...Please allow my oil to be free of metallic particles & keep the stripped threads at bay. For ever & ever VTR.''
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Or use a spanner.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Thanks for that, does the drain plug have a compressible washer if so
Do you need to replace it when retrofitting drain plug.
Thanks

The Workshop Knowledgebase > VTR1000F (Superhawk) Firestorm Service Manual PDF > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 31&t=18025

Might be an idea to download the searchable Service manual

Sump Fiche > http://www.ronayersmotorcycles.com/fich ... veh=132082

If you're changing the filter then this Oil filter wrench is useful > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OIL-FILTER-RE ... 256eba0446

You can use a new copper washer or reuse the old one by heating it up red hot before quenching it.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Bloody brilliant.

Be careful not to over-tighten the sump plug back up and strip the threads. That would open up a whole can of worms for you. On an old tired threads sometimes the recommended torque is a tad too much. Tightening by feel is good enough on something like this bearing in mind the temperature of the metal (expansion/contraction). I usually drain the oil while hot, plug goes back in the sump when cooled down somewhat.
