Anyone got any thoughts on this engine? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182029762208.

Looks like a fair amount of sealant round the flywheel cover, but it still seems like a bargain even with the split mountings. Pretty sure these could be welded up and bingo, spare engine.

Yes, I think you could weld up those engine mounts and they would be fine, but I think you have to assume they removed the engine for the same reason they removed the front cam cover......... CCT failure.

so if that hasn't been fixed then it is already overpriced.

Need more info on it, cct damage, head damage, crank, pistons, why is it for spares?

At least it still has a clutch cover on it, you'll getting least £70 for that alone.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

it worth £100, i would have it if i had a Storm, strip and do up or strip, take the good bits and chuck the rest. i would be very surprised if theres not £100 worth of bits in there.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Let's assume the front head's got two ben inlet valves, as per normal.
You can buy two 2nd hand inlet valves, fit those, reshim, and sell the head for £70.
Clutch cover, another £70.
Rear head, £35-40.
cct's? Nowt, they're standard and at least one's fooked.
Clutch complete- maybe £30
Alternator, for someone to have machined so that their bike's not off the road while the machining's being done? £25
Alternator casing with windings- £35
If there's a starter motor on it, another £40
Starter motor sprag clutch and reduction gears- £20.

Nothing else will sell, so give it to the local scrappy.

OR:
Buy two CCT's and two 2nd hand valves, plus a head gasket, and have a spare runner waiting just in case. Or sell it for £300.

OR: Buy another dead engine and a sheet of glass; make a coffee table.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Easily welded. I'm having it if he can wait a couple of weeks for collection. Going on current progress I'll need spare engine parts - everything else I take off to fix results in five other things that need fixing. I fully expecting the engine to junk itself when I finally get it going again.

worth it in terms of the usable parts.... i did get lucky and get a runner for £70 odd quid once but that was a gamble... in fact still using it
