Fork travel

Post by popkat »

Anyone know the full fork travel That Honda specify for Firestorm ?

For VFR/Storm project, not sure if I have enough, don't fancy the forks hitting the bottom yoke under full braking 8O

Surely you'll just have to check it on the bike Malc...Different oil, springs & air gap...it wont be the same as std...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Much easier to have the std spec though. But if no one knows it I'll have to find it another way.

If you trust source bellow: 109 mm while vfr 88-89 is at 120mm and vfr 90-97 140mm. It should be in service manual too.

The service manual quotes the VTR axle travel at 109mm and the fork stroke at 120mm; that will be that triggernometry thing in action.

Thanks chaps
I have 112mm from top of the dust cap to underside of bottom yoke. The stem is 20mm longer in the VFR effectively reducing/lowering the front by 20mm, but the storm forks will have much less sag than the stock bike so height will be similar, it's just the available fork travel that's effected.
I've always set my suspension so it leaves 10mm of travel in case you hit a bump for example under full braking. Seems like I need another 8mm, I'll try and push the forks down through the bars 8mm and see how it looks, bars are 25mm so will still leave 17mm of fork for the bars to clamp to. I will also check on my firestorm forks as I have a cable tie on one leg and see what travel has been used. Should give me a good idea to get it right.
