Then strip it down so you can get to the front cylinder .
Then set the rear on tdc fit cams .
Rotate crank 1&1/4 till front is on tdc and set cams .
You can't go wrong like that .

Put the cam furthest away from the tensioner in first and pull the chain over until it's taught and then fit the cam nearest the tensioner and tighten the tensioner to take up the slack. You don't need to remove the CCT just loosen the tension off. On second thoughts...step away from the bike and give your brain a bit of a rest. Come back to it in a few days with a clear head.
If your that confused as to where your timing is at there is one way to guarantee it's right but that requires removing the front cam cover and loosening the cams for both cylinders beforehand and then following the guide for timing in my thread. Set the crank to RT then refit the rear cams turn the crank 450 degrees 1.1/4 turns anti-clockwise to FT (note this is the second time you see FT in the window) and then refit the front cams. Or the alternative option is to loosen the rear cams and work from the front to the rear. Remove the front cam cover and set the crank to FT with both cam lobes pointing up and out and then turn the crank 270 degrees 3/4 turn anticlockwise until RT comes into view and refit the rear cams. Simples
You may understand now the differences in strokes that makes up a total of 720 degrees and why the 180 out becomes an issue (note 270 + 180 = 450) so if going from the rear to front and stop the first time FT comes into view then that's only 270 degrees. Easily done especially if you miss the mark and decide to spin the crank around again and loose count of how many times FT came into view.

im fine until it comes to dam cams..
anyhow. some how managed to get the cams back in. its timed to something that when i spin the engine nothing is beating anything else to death,, to late to fire it up so worse case is iv timed it back to the same place i started. il take that as a result for now..

Re: Romans lend me your ears, again
well pressed the button. it fired up with no nasty sounds. took it for a wee spin and i have to say,its running like sh1t..lumpy at steady throttle and gets to 5.5k on the button and ba ba ba ba. and refuses to rev any higher. doesnt matter if its half or full throttle it just hits a brick wall and it seems to be drinking fuel.. now im not talking hard i mean its draining the tank and the pipes smell of fuel....
only think im wondering is have i ended up back at 180 out....

Re: Romans lend me your ears, again
180 out wont make it drink more petrol, so you have multiple issues going on
try and fix them 1 by 1 starting with the cam timing. this time take of front & rear cam covers [just the covers, not the cams and not the CCTs
] and check that you have 1 and 1/4 turns from rear TDC to front TCD [with the cams pointing up].
then you need to check that the carbs are not put together wrong...... you could borrorw from your yellow one?
