i lokked at that timing so many times i got myself in a tiz esp when it was fixed it still ran crap so ended up questioning myself had i really fixed it, but having the ecu play up at the same time was masking anything i was doing with the cam timing..
great advice on here so beers on me lads..
It's not nice when you find what you think is the problem (as in your case valve timing 180* out) only to find out it has made no difference due to another problem masking it, it drags your already low moral down even further.
I bet you were elated more than words can say when you had finally fixed it with the ECU swap That feeling out weighs all the downers you previously had
your so right.. i was just biked out as i havnt stopped all winter and could have cried when it happened.. but that as you say all went away when that tacho swung round for me. i was like a big child giving it gears.... .
its the first proper build iv done in 30 years and i found out every days a school day. every min of it was worth it..
ay its revving the very best. still running rich low down but il sort that easy enough but not now, for now i just want to gear up on sunday and bring it out for a chilled out thrash.....
So have you actually ridden it...been round the block for a test run. The reason I ask is because a 180 out does not show itself revving at a standstill and needs to be under load. My concern is that you may either be still 180 out or you have put it out. It depends whether it was or not to begin with and where you have left things after moving stuff around. You have a 50/50 chance and if it is 180 out then it's no problem to put it right. Don't worry about fuelling you can tweak that later.
What's interesting to note here is that both ecu's ScottG's and Fabs have had an issue at 5000k which is the around the same spot as the 180 out kicking in so lets remember this for the future rather than just jump straight in with 180 out.
Sounds good As lloydie says dyno run next So you altered things with the timing and have not put it back and changed the ecu. Now I'm wondering if it was 180 out to begin with as well as having a failed ecu.
nterestingly, my spellchecker keeps trying to change "ecu" into "evil" so you might be into something......

Evil spellchecker me thinks
ay i wondered that but on checking and talking to Al it was 180 out aswell..
