RAM AIR effect
RAM AIR effect
Hello, I've been curious for some time now of the air box pressure actual obtainable from RAM air on a motorcycle say at 200mph and how much of a hp increase that would actually give, also how efficient are the RAM AIR systems on newer bikes is it more of a cool air intake then anything?

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: RAM AIR effect
I can only comment on my understanding of the stage 3 VTRs. These were running +1atm with ram air and not able to use all that air. I don't know the speed at which that pressure was achieved but it's a fair chunk of extra air. All the manufacturers use ram air in all the race series so I think it's safe to say it's more than a cool air intake.

Very helpful, you sir get a gold star!
Re: RAM AIR effect
The smart question would be "wonder if the extra air would overcome the shortage of air in the airbox when you time the engine 180 degrees out, to get a fully functioning big bang engine".
It wouldn't be possible until you got a bit of speed up, of course.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: RAM AIR effect
I like your way of thinking Tony
May be you could add an electric fan to draw in extra air until you got a bit of speed up as you put it then it cuts out as the ram-air takes over
Chris.

i seem to remember nick that 110 mph was the magic number for the ram effect to work on at least these old beasts.freeridenick wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 11:51 am I can only comment on my understanding of the stage 3 VTRs.
