Manual tensioner adjustment

Post by baynesy »

So, I have fitted 2 manual tensioners.

The front one had failed before I bought the bike and I knew it had to be fixed.

I needed 2 exhaust valve too but all that is done. I followed the manual tensioner installation guide, a great help by the way, but the cam chains seem a little rattly when the bike is running. Is there a way to adjust them safely without taking the cam covers off or is it best to part strip it again and re-adjust a little tighter?

Warm the bike up. Then tighten each tensioner until the tapping noise "just about" disappears. It will still rattle for a minute or two from cold as it warms up but will not be too tight when hot.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
