Question on brake master cylinder...

Post by Ckennedy »

Just a quickie....

Thinking about changing the front master cylinder on my bike for a little more power to the front brakes but will I need a different banjo bolt for the brake lines if I was to get say a 19mm cylinder?

Daft question but wanted to be 100% sure.

A larger diameter MC with stock calipers will only result in increased lever effort (and will, in fact, REDUCE power)......

Don't do it ,
Change the callipers and master to cbr600f4i that will work best .

Just changing the master to a bigger one will make the lever harder and doing so will reduce feel .

Most banjo bolts are the same but there are a few that are different.
If it is another Honda master, it will bolt right up.
Brembo, you will need a new one.

Other manufacturers, just ask

Oh and I agree with these guys.... a large master is not the way to go..... you will end up with the classic "wooden" brakes.

If only $$ for one thing, then due the calipers. The best is a complete system so it's matched

Cheers fellas. I was just looking at AMcQ's thread on brake upgrades and checking on ebay but I can not find the CBR600f4i callipers and MC on there :?

Another one you can look for is the non radial 600rr calipers and master. They are the same as SP2 brakes but with an integrated fluid res. on the master.
