Bike stopped again. Electrical problem

A few weeks ago I reported that the bike was spluttering, then went to one cylinder.
I managed to nurse it home
Into the workshop and a bit of a fiddle later it's working
Go for a ride, it coughs, splutters and dies

Get some coils from Mac
Fit them, fires up first time

Hurrah! I hear you shout

Unfortunately, half an hour later it coughs then does not start
Check for a spark
There isn't one!

So, assuming the coils have stopped working, why?

Shorting to the frame, have you mounted them correctly, when you crank it over look for a spark from the coil to the frame.

Agree, check for a short first as this is the most likely. The next thing down the line then is the converter unit (you are still on the storm arn;t you flatty? ) The converter unit switches and amplifies the voltage to the coils. If it's not switching off, the magnetic field that has been created wont collapse and induce induce a high voltage spark.

Fuel vac pipe fitted correctly, Tony's bike had similar problem on a ride out and that was the fuel valve diaphram I think, yours could be on the way out.

He's got to sort the no spark out before moving onto fuel.
